Busy weeks at new workplace

Wow, it has been 4 full weeks since I joined my new workplace. How time flies.

These past few weeks had been very fulfilling for me, as I was busy working on mainly Chinese New Year project, and in the process kena OT most of the days, late dinners, late nights' sleep and etc. Besides rushing for CNY collaterals, there were also National Museum trade event, TVB gala dinner & roadshow for January as well. So, can you imagine how exciting & tiring this January must have been for me?Firstly, I went through an interesting photoshoot experience for our CNY project, where we need CNY pictures of auspicious elements and human talents for our ATL ads & BTL collaterals. Thus, me and my boss were at the photoshoot studio for one full day. Now I realised how much time and effort have to be spent to produce such nice finished products. Anyway, that's only one portion of CNY project.
Secondly, we had a National Museum trade event, where my colleague handled most of the preparation work. I was there only to help out during the event, such as registration-taking, managing the flow of people who wanted to take guided tours for the Quest for Immortality Egypt event and networking etc. If you are interested in this Egypt event, do go to National Museum website to find out more. :) I took some pictures while we were at the cafe in the museum. After the whole event ended, we went to enjoy a late night dinner at Ritz Carlton hotel. Yum Yum. Thirdly, I went to help out as a volunteer during the TVB gala dinner event at Ritz Carlton on the 29 January. In the process, I get to catch TVB artistes walking down the "green" carpet and being interviewed by Wen Hong the Host of the event. Artistes who attended the event include Chen Hao, She Shi Man, Lin Feng, Guan Ju Ying, Li Hao Xiang, Ma Jun Wei and Chen Fa La etc. They are really really gorgeous. Lastly, we had a roadshow event at the last 2 days of the month at Plaza Singapura Atrium. Each of us handle different booth areas, and therefore we need to make sure setup for our booths are done up nicely. Me and my colleague went to check it up on the night prior to the roadshow, and also the next morning before the roadshow started. Finally, the busy period has passed, no doubt an exciting and interesting one. Chinese New Year is coming soon, and soon we have another 2 days of Public holidays, how I look forward to that....=)

Meanwhile, exploration stage at workplace continues....:)

Wangz Hotel - Newly opened in Dec 2009

Last Wednesday, I went to this hip cafe at Wangz Hotel for a drink. The hotel which is in Outram area has just opened in December 09 and has around 41 rooms in total. The barrel shape silver exterior is an eye-catcher and the interior is cosy and pretty as well.

Besides being chic and sophisticated, this hotel has a rooftop lounging area which overlooks the city landscape, it's really cool. Perfect place to mingle with friends and enjoy a leisurely chat. Too bad it's too dark in the night and I can't capture the lounge outlook on my iphone for you to see.

Have a look at the cafe below which is just located beside the lobby reception.

New Year, new work place :)

Realised that it's been awhile since I dropped a note in my blog here...:)

2009 has just passed us by, we are now in Year 2010, and Chinese New Year is approaching again.

A new year, a new start. New work environment, new route to work, new colleagues, new job scope, new learning curve....

Have a look at my new workstation, still very bare, am trying to see what things I can bring there to make the place more cosier. Already in my 2nd week, and because we are currently working on our CNY collaterals, it has been a hectic 2 weeks for me. No honeymoon period, no on-the-dot knock off, everything seems to be in a fast pace, whirlwind kind of mode. Am trying to pick up as fast as I could, so that I don't cause inconvenience to my work colleagues. The work here is very different from my ex-hotel place. It's a new learning curve again.

Apart from job scope, the culture here is also very different. More flexibility in terms of working hours; dress sense more casual; transport claim allowable after 8pm (which is really good for me, as I have been working late most of the time. Lunching places also very different as they are mostly coffee shops around the area. Once a week on a Friday we will go out to other places for a leisurely lunch.

There are times I would miss my ex-workplace and ex-colleagues to whom I have formed a close bond with, as that has been my comfort zone. Moving on to a new place makes me feel insecure, and uncertain about the future at this stage.

But since I have made this choice, I should move on and not look back. I believe there would be a time when I will feel bonded with the new environment and have more friends there.

Till then, bless me ya with lots of good luck and fortune..hehe...=)

Happy New Year to all!
